ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OVERVIEW HELD ON APRIL 18/18
As your President I would like to thank all those who took the time, out of their busy schedule to attend our Annual General Meeting held yesterday April 18/18.
I would also like you to know we had a presentation for Pet insurance put on by Pets + Us, who are our new pet insurance provider. You can find information about this coverage on our Insurance information page.
Our Home Insurance was explained by the President, and our various discounts attached to this insurance. Information on Home / Renters insurance coverage is available on our insurance page then go to the Johnson website.
The Vice President from Johnson Inc. (West); Mr. Jeff Bennett, along with our Consultant at Johnson, Ms. Jessica Simpson, attended, and presented a very informative explanation of our insurance plan and explained in detail the reasons for the increase to the various layers of our plans. We hope those that attended went away with a better understanding of the methods and reasons for the increases, as well as the difficulties your executive have in making the decisions that affect all of you, in our various plans, when increases or coverages change.
The financial report for last year, and the budget for this year 2018 were accepted and approved.
The election of officers took place with myself, Brian Monkman, being elected again as President for another term, and also Jane Inouye being elected as Treasurer, both by acclimation. I along with Jane are the persons to hold these positions for the longest time, in the history of MARGE since it started in 1972.
We also wish our Secretary, Roy Dixon; a speedy recovery from his illness of Bronchial Pneumonia that has returned again, and put him in bed.
Tea and Coffee along with various types of cookies were available to those desiring to partake of same.
A Member's Feedback
It was a good annual
meeting, but unfortunate that many of the new members do not attend, but
just want the benefits. While I also had my issues with the insurance
(none of us likes the increases) it is still the best deal around. But
what some people seem to want is to pick the better parts of each
different insurance on an individual basis. Well, we all know that it
does not work like that. In my personal case, Johnson came along just
at the right time, or my travels would have gone out of the window.
Blue Cross stopped covering me at age 75. Thanks to the Snowbird
Association I could get coverage (from different companies every year),
but after 80 nobody wants you. And the cost for up to 15 day travel
plus extended, was higher than what I pay now, for superior coverage.
So, you have done a great job getting this set up for us and I wish that
people that complain, would do something to help you improve things by
volunteering their time.
Thank you for accepting another term.

A number of members have shown an interest in this offering and the executive aren't able to afford the time, so we are looking for member(s) to step forward to see if we could get enough interested in various tours.
