Manitoba Association of Retired Government Employees (MARGE) Inc.
Since 1972, the Manitoba Association of Retired Government Employees (MARGE) Inc. has successfully represented Manitoba Civil Service Superannuation plan retirees & beneficiaries and worked to ensure its members receive benefit improvements from pension surpluses (regardless of their retirement date).
MARGE is a volunteer organization. If you can spare a few days/hours a month to VOLUNTEER, please contact the MARGE office by phone or by email.
PLEASE NOTE: See "New at MARGE" re CITY OF WPG/MGEU Fitness Passes - deadline Sept. 13/2016
Why you should join MARGE
As a retiree it’s important your Civil Service Pension keeps pace with the cost of living and that you receive benefits from any pension insurance plan surpluses. MARGE represents retirees in negotiations with the Province on pension and life insurance improvements that may result from these surpluses.
MARGE representatives sit on the Civil Service Superannuation Board (CSSB) Liaison Committee (SILC - http://liaisoncommittee.org/) and MARGE continues to lobby for permanent CSSB representation. MARGE representatives on the Liaison Retiree Committee also meet regularly with management of Manitoba Blue Cross to deal with issues pertaining to group health care, ambulance and dental benefits for pension recipients.
MARGE members are eligible to receive discounts on a six-month or one-year City of Winnipeg Fitness Pass (spring and fall each year) and members in Portage receive a reduced rate to work out at the PCU Centre. For more information, call our office at 204-956-0045.
MARGE members can also apply for discounted Health/Dental/Travel/Trip Cancellation Insurance. You must be a member of MARGE to apply.
Please contact JOHNSON INC. directly at 1-877-989-2600 (toll-free) or visit http://www.johnson.ca/marge for more information on this coverage.
NOTE: As of January 1, 2015 (indicated in a mail out to retirees) Blue Cross will no longer be deducted directly from CSSB pension. Therefore all retirees will need to make a decision as to which health/travel insurance plan they want based on their individual health/travel needs.
MARGE hosts luncheons/meetings in addition to a Christmas meeting every year. Guest Speakers are invited from organizations such as Manitoba Blue Cross and the CSSB as well as other organizations to speak on topics of interest.
MARGE assists, along with volunteer members in arranging outings that members request as social outings. Coach trips and river cruises are just some of the ways members enjoy their retirement and meet other MARGE retirees.
